EndNote Web & EndNote Online

EndNote 2025 is a Desktop and cloud-based solution in one – including a new exclusive EndNote Web interface. EndNote Web is exclusively available to all EndNote 2025 Desktop users who have purchased the EndNote 2025 Desktop version. EndNote 21 and earlier versions may access the classic variant EndNote Online.

The EndNote Web account consists of an email address and password  to be enabled and registered via the EndNote 2025 Preferences (Settings) screen. Buy EndNote 2025 Desktop and register your EndNote Web account.  Right after your EndNote Web account has been setup and synchronisation (Sync) has been enabled you may start synchronising your EndNote Desktop library with your EndNote Web environment.

EndNote Web

EndNote Web provides an online interface similar in appearance to the desktop. With EndNote Web you can also edit a reference in the same window with Summary, Edit, and File Attachment panels, much as you can on the desktop. If a reference has a PDF attached you can open that PDF in a separate browser window with a PDF reader to read it. If CrossRef has updated metadata information available for a reference, the Edit panel will display an alert.

The Summary Panel for a reference also provides a preview option for viewing the reference as it would appear for a limited number of styles, with the ability to copy the reference in that format for pasting into a document.

EndNote Web includes the Research Assistant feature, also available in EndNote desktop. The Research Assistant uses a generative AI-powered tool that enhances your research discovery by extracting key insights from individual papers, creating a summary of the article independent of the author’s abstract.

EndNote Web also includes a PDF viewer for PDF attachments.

Cite While You Write

Cite While You Write with Word Online and Google Docs integrates with EndNote Web. Links from those applications will take you to the EndNote Web interface for your library.

Tags

EndNote Web supports the Tags feature in EndNote. Tags can be assigned and managed for references from either the desktop or the EndNote Web interface.

Other Features Similar to EndNote 2025 Desktop

Like the desktop interface, EndNote Web allows you to control the columns that show in the browser. Just click the Columns button at the far right. Then click a column heading to sort the library by that field.

EndNote Web allows you to control the interface display through the Image of display options button with options to match the operating system, or to choose a light or dark display.

And, of course, you can manage your references in multiple ways using the handy EndNote Web toolbar.

Advantages of an EndNote Web Account Registration

Enabling and registering an EndNote Web account unlocks the following advantages:

  1. Access your Sync library via internet from anywhere with any modern browser.
  2. Download EndNote for iPhone or EndNote for iPad from the Apple app store and sync your library to your EndNote for iPhone or EndNote for iPad.
  3. Setup EndNote Desktop on any other environment (macOS, Windows, home, notebook) and enter your EndNote Web account email address and password to the Preferences (Settings) > Sync screen and synchronize your online library to the new environment. Editing and updating your library will sync automatically to EndNote Web and from there to the other EndNote environments and vice versa.
  4. Share your library with 1.000 others (email addresses) with an EndNote Web account.
  5. Share a group within your library with 1.000 others (email addresses) with an EndNote Web account.
